Pictures vs. Drawings

Why do some houses have artist renderings of them while others just have pictures of the house when it is put on the MLS? My theory is that houses that have artist renderings are too ugly to have their picture taken. After all, first impressions matter... By having a drawing of the house, the seller/agent is hoping that you won't turn away immediately. That's the only reason I can think of to get a drawing made. After all, a digital picture is a lot cheaper than a custom drawing.

Drawings, you must be looking at new construction or the photo of the home is not loaded on the MLS and they have a dummy drawing instead. Drawings of your house, thats a new one.

These were not new homes. They were also posted on the MLS. The only drawing of the house was the picture of the front. The other pictures, interior, etc... were normal pictures. After seeing the house in person, I think the drawing was done to mask some of the lack of curb appeal of the house. I have seen this done more than once.
